Starr Studios in Salem, Oregon show dance class goal: To have fun learning, dancing, and studying performance.
Show dance is centered around building confidence and encouraging teamwork. In show dance lessons, students study technique, choreography, etiquette and tricks of the trade among other aspects of the performance life. This curriculum is a wonderful preparation for Company, recitals, competitions and other performance opportunities.
- Improve coordination, flexibility, endurance, strength, and body awareness through developmentally-appropriate exercises designed to challenge, but not exhaust
- Participate in exercises in the center of the floor while demonstrating proper posture and positioning to encourage injury prevention and safe technique
- Participate in group activities and projects
- Set and strive toward team and self-goals in a safe and supportive environment
- Explore the history of dance and movement
- Study rhythm, dynamics, individuality, style and self-expression
- Participate in the annual recital
