Starr Studios in Salem, Oregon lyrical dance class goal: To have fun learning, dancing, building self-confidence, and experimenting with expression and style.
Lyrical dance centers around exploring emotion, expression, and personal style. It is an introduction to a special and beautiful form of self-expression and interpretation. Students:
- Improve coordination, flexibility, endurance, strength, and body awareness through developmentally-appropriate exercises designed to challenge, but not exhaust
- Participate in exercises in the center of the floor while demonstrating proper posture and positioning to encourage injury prevention and safe technique
- Participate in group activities and projects
- Set and strive toward team and self-goals in a safe and supportive environment
- Explore the history of dance and movement
- Study rhythm, dynamics, individuality, style and self-expression
- Participate in the annual recital
