Starr Studios in Salem, Oregon jazz dance class goal: To have fun learning, dancing, working towards goals, and building confidence.
Jazz dance is a lively, fast-paced form for the energetic and passionate dancer. It is an excellent basis for building strength, developing coordination and increasing endurance. Students:
- Improve coordination, flexibility, endurance, strength, and body awareness through developmentally-appropriate exercises designed to challenge, but not exhaust
- Participate in exercises in the center of the floor while demonstrating proper posture and positioning to encourage injury prevention and safe technique
- Participate in group activities and projects
- Set and strive toward team and self-goals in a safe and supportive environment
- Explore the history of dance and movement
- Study rhythm, dynamics, individuality, style and self-expression
- Participate in the annual recital
