Irish dance is a dance style that started in Ireland and was made world famous by Riverdance. This class combines ceili, set, and softshoe step to integrate both solo and social forms. It improves the dancer’s balance, and strength. Students:
- Improve coordination, flexibility, endurance, strength, and body awareness through developmentally-appropriate exercises designed to challenge, but not exhaust
- Participate in exercises in the center of the floor while demonstrating proper posture and positioning to encourage injury prevention and safe technique
- Participate in group activities and projects
- Set and strive toward team and self-goals in a safe and supportive environment
- Explore the history of dance and movement
- Study rhythm, dynamics, individuality, style and self-expression
- Participate in the annual recital
