Starr Studios in Salem, Oregon hip-hop class goal: To have fun learning, dancing, supporting each other and building self-confidence and positive self-esteem.

Hip-Hop dance is an energizing form of dance that focuses on self-expression, personal style, and improvisation. In hip-hop dance lessons, students are encouraged to exercise their creativity and to experiment with different styles.

  • Improve coordination, flexibility, endurance, strength, and body awareness through developmentally-appropriate exercises designed to challenge, but not exhaust
  • Participate in exercises in the center of the floor while demonstrating proper posture and positioning to encourage injury prevention and safe technique
  • Participate in group activities and projects
  • Set and strive toward team and self-goals in a safe and supportive environment
  • Explore the history of dance and movement
  • Study rhythm, dynamics, individuality, style and self-expression
  • Participate in the annual recital
