At Starr Studios in Salem, Oregon the ballet dance class goals include: To have fun learning, dancing, and building self-confidence and positive self-esteem.

Ballet is a beautiful expression and a valuable foundation for all forms of dance. Students:

  • Improve coordination, flexibility, endurance, strength, and body awareness through developmentally-appropriate exercises designed to challenge, but not exhaust
  • Engage in barre and centre work while demonstrating proper posture and positioning to encourage injury prevention and safe technique
  • Study terminology of the National Academy of Ballet and styles of the Cecchetti and Vaganova Method
  • Participate in group activities and projects
  • Set and strive toward team and self-goals in a safe and supportive environment
  • Explore the history of dance, ballet, and movement
  • Study rhythm, dynamics, individuality, style and self-expression
  • Participate in the annual recital
